Everyone needs at least one of these!
This little setup is absolutely awesome! Excellent quality and super easy to put together! I picked up the 5.56 version and now going to grab the 7.62 also. As my title for this review says... I believe everyone should own at least one!
A pocket rocket
I picked up this Maxim Industries PDX kit after watching a review from Short Shot Tony on YouTube about the now discontinued Springfield armory PDW Saint. That Saint was made with the Maxim Industries PDX kit, and after trying to find one, I decided to build one myself. The kid comes with a fully assembled upper, ready to be attached to your own lower, and it is very easy to do so. I attached it to an AT3 lower receiver with no issues. I really like the proprietary BCG and it's innovative buffer assembly. It does take some very slight finagling to get the upper and lower mated, but it's negligible. Recoil is very manageable with the 5.5" barrel, even in a 5.56 load, thanks to the HATEBRAKE. I added some MagPul Gen 3 MBUS sights (which actually took a little coercing to convince to fit on the rail) and a Holosun 510C-GR optic, and it acquires and dispatches targets like a dream. If you have the money for a Gucci Gun, this is my recommendation.
Pros:
- Sturdy
- easy to assemble
- incredibly compact
Cons:
- rail tolerances might make it hard to mount optics
- costs the same as a used 2006 Honda Civic
Best Used for:
- Home Defense
- Close quarters engagement
- a "truck gun"

Great piece of hardware
Instant fun gun. Solid piece of equipment comes with everything shown. If your not sure and your reading this BUY it!!!!!! It fits in a Regular Sport back pack very solid and great finish. I run Romeo 4s red dot on top of these platforms perfect height instantly in the right spot every time I bring the weapon up.

Maxim Defense upper kit
Great quality product. Very robust. Love that it comes with a grip and legit Radian LT charging handle. I used a radian lower also in FDE and it looks perfect. Only minor complaint is the stock slide when fully collapsed interferes with the bolt catch, but not a deal breaker by any stretch.

Pricey but top quality (5.56 with 5.5 inch barrel FDE color)
The quality cannot be overstated. There's nothing I don't like about this product except the fact that its expensive, but you really do get what you pay for. I bought this kit to mate it with a Sharps Brothers lower and a rise armament trigger and Sig Romeo 5 red dot. The buffer system/bolt assembly allows this AR pistol to be a total of 18.75 inches with stock collapsed. The parts are obviously a cut above what you see on the market today. The coatings on the parts not only look good but are flawless as well. I used 55 grain PMC ammo and got very good results at 50 yards with groups under 3.5 inches shooting from a bag. The brake does direct much of the sound away from the shooter so this a big plus.
Pros:
- Quality
- Recoil Management
- workmanship and fit
- operation was flawless
- fitment with milspec lower was perfect
- customer service excellent
Cons:
- price
- availability on these kits is low
Best Used for:
- Self defense
- vehicle or boat use because of small size
- really fun to shoot
- under 100 yards seems to get the best results

Maxim defense pdx absolutely cool piece
I walked into this skeptical I am here writing my review after using it for quite a while now. I had got this in March of 2020. It has been absolutely 100% reliable I only cleaned it today Aug 3 2021 after maybe close to 2,000 rounds. (give or take) I did notice some pieces of primer or brass in the Firing pin channel so this is something to be aware of after around 2k rounds. Other than that, the build quality is insane compared to much of any DI on the market. You'll get typical ware of the carrier finish and the gas key is properly staked on mine. I do have to make the prospective buyer they do use YFS screws. Overall for the 5.56 upper I bought, the accuracy was exceptional out well beyond the effectiveness of it's Barrel. I do recommend building one if you can't get a sig rattler. This in my opinion was the last bit of the wheel you could have reinvent before going to a piston gun. This gun convinces me AR 15s in the future will shorten their length like this is a real thing and it's not a compromise.
Pros:
- It's highly reliable
Cons:
- The use of YFS screws and requires armored to service gas block.
Best Used for:
- 50yds, backpacking, range toy, heavy grain ammo NOT A LONG RANGE UPPER!
