Most Helpful Positive Review Great EDC
I carry this bag everyday, with my laptop, note pads, passports and a bunch of other edc junk that keeps it just about full. I dont use and wear it the conventional way...I dont use the stabilizing strap and I carry the main strap on the opposite shoulder that it is intended for, for quick and easy sling on and off use. I rarely go further than from my front door to my truck and from the truck to the job so no sense in strapping up to walk a mile....which i have done. for my purposes, its a great and extremely useful with tons of organization and pockets that will take you weeks to find. Maxpedition's largest sling pack.

by Ham man, from CA, United States Written on June 29, 2017
at first I thought this pack would be too large for a single strap sling pad. But after using it for a couple weeks I have found out that it has great balance and it's wonderful for keeping in the back of a car with a complete ham radio emergency service set up in it enables me to just grab it and go with everything inside set up ready to operate just connect a few cables and I'm in business with the ham radio station.
Pros:
  • Strong, well-designed and very convenient
Cons:
  • A few small compartments inside would be nice but this can be made up by several of the smaller insert cases available

Well made but didn't work for me

by Legacy Reviewer, from GA, United States Written on November 7, 2013
A very nice, quality pack. The gear slinger set up didn't work well for me. Try one in person before you buy. It may work for you.
Pros: Quality construction
Cons: Not very usable for my needs.

Kodiak Gearslinger

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on September 12, 2013
Generally a good pack. The Cordura like material has a slightly different feel to it than US made product, but works well. Zippers are very "loud", but work well and appear robust. At this price point I would expect to see a few more pouches inside, rather than sleeves, but I can live with this. The Molle like additions do not appear to be Molle spec, more useable with Malice clips.
I like the pack.
Pros: size and comfort
Cons: none so far

Last EDC bag I'll ever need

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on February 14, 2012
I get a ton of compliments on this bag. it looks good and is very versatil. Plus, it's a Maxped, so you know it's virtually indestructible.

They planned the layout of the storage areas really well. There's lots of elastic storage straps everywhere and compression straps/cords to keep your gear from rattling around.

It's tough as hell, too: I've comfortably carried 35# of books and tools in it on occasion w/ little or no effort. It also has more internal volume than I'd have guessed at a glance, especially the bottom outer compartment.

My only small gripe, if you can call it a gripe, is that the side w/ the main zipper is a little too busy. This is where all the side MOLLE straps are and the where the zippers for the front pouches need to be when you swing it around front. This puts too many cords and tabs and zipper-pulls in the way when you're accessing the main compartment.

I put a JANUS pouch on the strap for those things you need often w/out swinging it around front and a Mini Roly Poly to the flap where the strap meets the bag at the bottom. I think they look good and add a lot of extra storage.
Pros: Rugged/well-made, versatility, storage planning, payload, looks really cool
Cons: zipper/tab/strap configuration on main zipper panel, not much else

Maxpedition Kodial Gearslinger Backpack Review

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on February 26, 2011
This is my first Maxpedition product and it was just as well made as I had heard about. I am not a LEO or in the military, but It serves my EDC needs great. I love the "One Strap" design that centers the pack across my back and the multiple pockets that also access from the side are very versatile. The side bottle pouch is very convenient and roomy. The Zippers seem very durable and the coloration of the bag is nice as well. Sometimes you have to pay for quality and this time it was very well worth it. Excellent all around back pack.
Pros: Quality Construction, Lightweight, Many Features, Versatile, Coloring
Cons: Needs more elastic loops in pockets for office/personal supplies (ie. pen, phone, etc)
