Rick's Review of MDT Field Stock Howa 1500 Chassis System

This stock is great so far. It gave my 257 Weatherby a long overdue new life. I never liked the original Vanguard stock, in fact it was aweful, rubbing the bluing off the barrel at the fore-end. Will put it to the test when the weather improves and I can get out to shoot it. Fingers crossed it groups better. I handload and never found a sweet spot recipe.
Pros:
  • Stiffness, weight
Cons:
  • The grip feels plasticky and has a ridge right on your fingertips where the pieces don't align nicely. I would rather focus on my shooting, not that minor defect before each shot.
Best Used for:
  • Hunting and mid range shooting
