Giving old gun some much deserved new life
This stock is great so far. It gave my 257 Weatherby a long overdue new life. I never liked the original Vanguard stock, in fact it was aweful, rubbing the bluing off the barrel at the fore-end. Will put it to the test when the weather improves and I can get out to shoot it. Fingers crossed it groups better. I handload and never found a sweet spot recipe.
Pros:
- Stiffness, weight
Cons:
- The grip feels plasticky and has a ridge right on your fingertips where the pieces don't align nicely. I would rather focus on my shooting, not that minor defect before each shot.
Best Used for:
- Hunting and mid range shooting

If Buying for 30.06 whatever you do DO NOT BUY THIS! There is only 1 magazine and it's $100 made by MDT, and it doesn't come even close to fitting. I had to dremel about .25" of metal all the way around mag insert and now it barely fits and barely works properly. $500 down the drain.
