Most Helpful Positive Review Fitment issues
I like the design of the grip, but fitment is a bit loose and seen cracking around plugger holes at the top. Wish the adjustment screws were designed with an integrated nut system instead of a loose nut type.
Most Helpful Negative Review I expected better from MDT - horribly quality for the outrageous price
OK - this product consists or 3 molded plastic pieces, 3 screws, a few washers, and 2 nuts. 10-12 bucks worth of stuff that MDT charges 59 dollars for. Fine - they spent the time and money to design it, tool it, and make it. High priced but I was willing to pay it. Now - for 60 bucks I expect a ...

To make a mid range chassis better!!!

by Shane Gould, Verified Owner from SD, United States Written on August 24, 2025
This is an amazing addition to my chassis that I bought for a competition. Now it was not an MDT chassis but a good one that is manufactured in the US and Veteran owned. I was using their grip when I decided to get this MDT grip. I had already shot the competition and did ok but after I put this grip on it made my rifle completely different!!! It is AR compatible and adjustable which are things I needed and didn’t have. Totally get this if you’re wanting an upgrade to your rifle!!!
Pros:
  • feals good and easy to use
  • Adapatability
Cons:
  • Sould have got the bigger grip offered
Best Used for:
  • everything

MDT vertical grip

by Just a guy, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on April 27, 2025
Can't go wrong with MDT products. Are they quality? Yes. Are they are leader in the precision rifle arena? Yes. Are they pricey? Absolutely.
The grip just adds a different ergo to your hand position. You may prefer a more angled grip. But the product itself feels solid, it attaches securely and i've replaced all of my bolt action grips with this one.
Pros:
  • Solid, quality product
Cons:
  • Expensive
Best Used for:
  • Precision rifle

well built as expected

by Shawn Morgan, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on February 23, 2025
Well built as expected but fitment isn’t as nice as I hoped for. I’m sure it’s designed to fit multiple styles of lowers but leaves gaps along the upper mating area.

Bulky, Weird

by John, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on December 31, 2024
Item has a large swell at the top of the grip, I don’t have the longest fingers, so I could barely get my fingers around it comfortably. Decided to go with the Anarchy Outdoors Penguin instead.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Oddly shaped
Best Used for:
  • People with large hands, longer fingers

MDT Vertical Grip is good

by Casey, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on December 8, 2024
I needed a vertical rear grip on my Tikka TX3-Tac1 long range rifle. The MDT grip didn't fit perfectly but the Tikka is NOT an exact AR match for attachment. It does fit pretty well. The main problem I had is the screw thread pitches - not the standard 1/4 x 20 of a normal AR. The MDT grip is made in Canada and the Tikka is made in Scandinavia. Nothing matched so it was an easy job at the hardware store to get proper fitting screws and bolts. it does have a fair forward and back adjustment for trigger finger length of pull from the grip to the trigger which I imagine will be excellent. This is the first vertical grip with forward/rearward adjustment.
Pros:
  • Vertical grip
  • Adjustment rear/forward
Cons:
  • uses a very long bolt to attach to the rifle
  • Not standard threading
Best Used for:
  • Long Range / PRS

Mtd vertical grip

by David M., Verified Owner from ID, United States Written on May 23, 2024
Nice looking grip when assembled, however you will need to file down on the center of the two halves to lessen the gaps on the top and bottom of vertical grip.

Recommended with reservations

by BrianK, Verified Owner from ME, United States Written on May 14, 2024
I have smallish hands and this grip is a bit fat for me. There's no reason it couldn't be made thinner for a better fit. Too, the screws would be easier to start to thread if they were a bit longer. But making the grips a bit thinner would have the same effect as longer screws. There are sharp edges that don't need to be there, in the vicinity of the trigger finger, and again, in that area too the grip could be thinner. But a minute with a Dremel took care of some of those needlessly sharp edges. Making the grip solid in that area would have allowed for fully fitting it (it's hollow under the exterior). I might pour it full of resin so that I can carve away the bits that need to go.

That's the criticism I have and why I didn't give it 5 stars. Once installed they do what they're supposed to do nicely. A true zero degree vertical grip isn't exactly what I wanted, as I discovered after installation. Another grip that I tried allowed only that sort of orientation. My "trick" wrist likes a bit of angle and this grip allows me to have that not quite vertical grip. That's much better, and hugely better than a grip with lots of angle to it when shooting at the bench.

With a little tweaking of the mould by someone who knows what a pistol grip should be would make for a 5 star grip.
