My son likes it.
My son(8) got this for Christmas and he really likes it. For the price no one should be thinking they are getting a very high quality one. I think it is a good starter kit for children.

This microscope was a piece of crap. It broke the first day we used it.
I think a handheld magnifying glass would have worked as good as this product and would last years longer.

NO REPLACEMENT PARTS! Can't get bulbs.
Used the microscope for maybe 20 minutes and bulb burned out. Replacement bulb performed for almost 30 minutes before burning out. Cannot find replacement bulb locally or online. I contact Meade regarding ordering more bulbs directly. They advised they do not have this as this kit is assembled overseas. I guess we have just literally thrown away all the money we just spent. What a waste. Don't buy!!!

Very Cheap
My mother-in-law is the queen of cheap gifts for her grandkids. This item is no exception. It is like she is throwing her money away. This thing is going straight to Goodwill.

Great for Children
This is the 2'ed microscope kit i have gotten, I have four grandchildren and i got ask by the younger brother for one just like the older had gotten form me last year. I got the first one at Wallgreen's and was glad to find one online just like the first. This is a great educational toy;

a great starter for your scientist
A wide variety of items to view using your microscope. The shrimp did not develop entirely. I would advise you to purchase additional blank slides as that is what my daughter really wanted to do and see.

Childrens Microscope Set
Very good purchase. Holds the childs facination and encourages them to explore, create, and observe the different elements on the slides. They have fun making and reviewing their own slides.

Neat Idea, didn't function
There is a lot of neat stuff in this box and it generated a lot of excitement when opened. However, the microscope did not work. At all. Nothing can be seen- and I work in a lab, I know how to use microscopes. My 3 & 4 year olds didn't realize how poorly it functions, but I would not recommend this at all.

Great for the money
This was for the grandchildren. Sturdy metal. Many ways to adjust the aperture and lenses. The slides and other tools interested the children. Plenty of magnification. Had a problem with the lighted mirror. The bulb was loose and intermittent, and the bulbs are not available in the hardware store. Had to patch the light with 2-sided tape to get it to make contact. But other than that it was a great buy.

Meade Children's 28-piece Starter's Microscope Kit
Seemed like a good idea. Probably a good starter for kids to at least see if there is any real interest in using a microscope. However, my microscope was broken. The light source didn't work and therefore we got almost no use out of it and had to return it for an upgrade.
