OK for the price

This telescope is definitely good for moon watching. The auto alignment could be easier but the biggest issue is the focusing gear which is easily damaged. I have read other reviews where many have reported the same issue. In my case Meade was pretty good about replacing the front end with the gears and I have treated it gently ever since with good results. Never leave the lock screw tightened as you will strip the gears as soon as you try to focus and you won't feel it. They strip that easily. If you are very careful it will be fine. I am not experienced in this area but the optics seemed quite acceptable to me and other than the gears the build quality seemed good for the price. I would recommend this product with the caveats noted. It is no longer stocked but you will find some used on the market.

Happy in Mississippi

My favorite function is the GOTO that takes you to any object you would like to see. I don't know a lot about astronomy or telescopes so this feature is definetely a plus. Ever since my husband bought this telescope we have been going out at night to sit under the stars and look at the sky. I even figured out how to use it on my own so that i can show my guests.
This is not a really advanced telescope but we are happy at our level of knowledge and would recommend to others.
