Bulky but warm. The mittens are warm, but very bulky..

New Jersey 1/2026 arctic storm. Yesterday at work I had to spend 5 hours outside shoveling. Temperature was 12 F° (have also worn them down to 5 F°) and never once did my hands get even remotely cold, despite needing to take them on and off multiple times. Wind does not penetrate these gloves. Definitely worth the money. I intend to buy another pair just in case anything happens to these. I got the medium size, and the index finger can reach the trigger on an AR-15 with a standard trigger guard (a little tight). However, it can not fit into the trigger guard on a Glock 19. Also, I do not wear them to drive. They hit the directional signal and turn the windshield wipers on and off.

Even without liners/layers these gloves kept my hands warm in 15 degrees F at night. The ratings suggest that they are not water resistant, but I have not found this to be true. Over two hours of use in heavy wet snow and my hands were never wet. The dexterity leaves something to be desired, but it's as good as it can be for a heavy mitten. The pointer finger sleeve makes grabbing things way easier. When you need extra warmth you can remove your pointer finger from the sleeve and put it inside the mitten portion with the rest of your fingers, there is plenty of room! The gauntlets are long, roomy, and super easy to cinch down, and release! Mechanix Wear doesn't list the insulation weight of the gloves but in speaking with them it's 300g. That's three times as much insulation as any of my other gloves! If you need more, there's liners, and even an outer shell available! Buy these gloves if you want warm hands!
