Mike's Review of Meprolight M22 Rifle Sight

I have three of the original design, M21 sights. The...no battery...design is great. I like the big triangle too.
I decided to give the new, "slightly" smaller, M22 design (also a triangle reticle) a try. The M22 is red vs the M21 being more amber in color. It's also a bit brighter in intensity.
The Optics Planet title says it's a "pistol" sight. While it can...be used on a pistol, it's actually a rifle / shotgun sight. A bit too large on most pistols.
Even though, it still has the fading problem that the M21 has looking outside from indoors, it's slightly more visible, I think because of the reds brightness. They make a Polarizer that makes this problem almost, go away completely.
I like the new design, looks just as tough as the original as far as any sort of drop damage. The lock while a little heavy duty, it works well, and is very solid on the Picatinny rail.
Pros:
  • No batteries required
  • Bright red, very clean reticle
  • Having an astigmatism ISN'T a problem with this sight
  • Built tough, similar to the original, M21
  • Can be used with a magnifier
Cons:
  • Poor, aiming from indoor to outdoor brightness
Best Used for:
  • any shooting
