The Mepro M22 is a very rugged and light weight sight. The Reticle is easy to see when in bright sun light. However, Just like the Mepro 21m it has the washout problem. When in low light or in a dim room looking out into bright light or when using a tactical light the reticle becomes invisible. For the Mepro 21 there came a product (the REM 21 LED illuminator) that solved that sights washout. Meprolight has come out with the "Light Module Kit" (For $125.00) that fixes the washout for the Mepro M22. In my opinion it should come standard with the sight. There is another LED kit out there called the REM 22 (Reticle Enhancement Module) for $36.95. It works great. You can attach it yourself or send in the left side plate of the Mepro M22 to the company (M1Bullpup.com) and they will attach it for free. Overall the M22 is a great, small, rugged sight but needs a back up LED illuminator.
Pros:
- Rugged and reliable
- Small & light
- Clear crisp easy to zero
- Quick detach feature
Cons:
- Needs an LED back up illuminator to eliminate the wash out.

If you're in a darkened room looking out, where the tritium isn't bright enough, and the fiber optics are getting no light, the reticule will wash out. That's the nature of the beast, and that's a rare thing. Maybe 5% of the time. Moving a couple if feet will fix it. The sunshade is a must for that reason. I am still going to buy the LED light kit so I have the option to have an electronic dot ( triangle ️ ). It will be the perfect end of the world sight once that's done. 95% there as it is. If the stuff hits the fan, I'll have what I need for any condition. When my battery supply is gone, I'll have what I need for 95% of conditions. The retcule is very bright and and clear in most instances without the battery.

I actually had absolutely zero problems with this optic, until I read these reviews.
I just took the weapon out of my safe, and pushed on the optic side to side.
There is enough back and forth flex, that it leads me to believe this will eventually lose zero.
I guess this is the tradeoff, of a polymer optic.
I was gonna buy another, but now I’m thinking I’m not.

I think this is probably the best sub $500 optic. I like the brightness of the dot in situations where light from where you are is similar to the light where you are aiming, but every reviewer is right when they complain about shooting from dark into bright light. I'm told the $80 polarizer option corrects this, but it should absolutely be a huge asterisk for anyone thinking about buying the M22 who isn't shooting in perfect lighting conditions. It NEEDS the optional lens cover and should be sold as standard, regardless of what it does to the all important price point. I ordered the polarizing lens with the M22 and it was on a several week backorder. I should get it in about a week, and I'll do an updated review once I receive it. Bottom line: unless you're buying this for target shooting only, don't consider it a good optic for defense, unless you have the optional polarizer.

You can tell this is well built. Works well shooting outdoors. Not so good indoors. I like the retical. Honestly....wish it had a battery so I could turn up the brightness in dimmer light or in the indoor range. I know that's against the purpose of the sight.
Pros:
- Durable...not going to break

If you are outside in good light you will like this sight, it is well built and looks good. If you are inside or in low light you will not like this sight. I returned the original thinking that it was defective, but second sight performs the same.
Cons:
- Poor performance in low light

Even tightened down, if you press the optic leftward, it will pivot on the integrated mount. It doesn't require much pressure at all. I have this on both of mine and a friend's. So its not just a one-off thing. I discovered this too late to return them, so I will try to save others from making a $450 + tax and shipping mistake
Otherwise, the optic is quite cool and looks great on AKs especially. Its great in concept bit until they fix this, i dont think its worth the 450 plus tax and shipping. It can be a neat range toy but not serious, yet. I am going to contact optics planet and meprolight and see what they will say, and update this review. If I can, accordingly

I just bought mine. beautiful design.but it's garbage. I really have been trying to give it the chance.but in the night it's almost imposible to see the dot unless you eyes have adapted to the dark. As soon as you check any sceen device. I your dot it's gone. Looking through a window dark to light, but no dot. Imagine you on a war. I inside a building, trying to engage something outside and you have no dot.! There is not illuminator available. I'm really thinking to return it.
