Meprolight tritium sights - sprinfield armory xd - Meprolight Night Sights for Springfield XD Pistols and Handguns

I originally bought the sights with green in front and orange in the rear. I had purchased and installed these same sights on an HK USP and, rat-a-tat-tat, they went on smoooothly. I followed the directions in the Meprolight instruction guide, which are as follows: 'Using a drift punch, tap the sight firmly from the left side with a hammer to force the sight out of it's dovetail recess'. DO NOT DO THIS. It breaks the radioactive tube (it's made of glass) and renders your sight useless. To remove and install sights on an XD, you really need the sight installation (and removal) tool....which is more than the sights. After I purchased my second pair of them (green front and back because the orange rear sight was BARELY visible) I found somebody with that tool and they installed them for me. A little research on the Internet will show that the installation tool and possibly a little filing of the recess is required on XD's, so beware, it's not going to be easy. Oh yeah, don't forget to get the green ones, like I said earlier, the orange is barely visible. The green is a little better.
Pros: Uh well, I guess you can see a little bit at night
Cons: Getting the things on an XD - Not too-too bright
