Expert Review
This sight has a lot going for it.
The lens is crystal clear, no color change or aberrations showed, even at the edges. The dot is clear and sharp. The quick release levers clamp down tight to a picatinny rail, yet still flip easily when you want to pull the sight off. While the nuts for the clamps look a little ungainly, while mounted to my quad-rail they were out of the way and never contacted my fingers under recoil. The use of a AA battery means that you wont have any issues finding a replacement, when the time comes. The uncapped adjustment dials were easy to use, yet didn't shift inadvertently. The brightness dial is concise and easy to manipulate.
On the down side I was not able to use the irons on my AR while the optic was mounted. The body of the optic obscured the front sight too much for the irons to be usable. I had to take advantage of the QD levers on the optic to transition to iron sights. I also would have liked another brightness setting that was a little more intense. While I was able to see the dot while shooting on a bright day near noon, a little more intensity would not have been a bad thing.

Accurate and tough
Originally bought this for a 10 inch gun that I was convinced was just not an accurate gun. The 1.8 MOA dot is clean and clear on this optic. Once on my gun it was clear that my aging eyes just weren't up to the open sight tasks of tight groups. This dot however solved both problems and little rifl...

Mepro TRU-DOT
I am having a visual problem with the dot. I don't know if the product was meant for CQC only. The dot is a true red dot when I use it in my basement at close range. I took it to the range to sight in and at 100 meters at power settings 2 and 3 the dot begins to peanut. My son and 2 other shooters ...

Meprolight tru-dot
I ordered this sight and received a lesser model (different UPC and part number 56860004) that it didn't even worked. So, I returned it for an exchange and received the same wrong Meprolight. After a tedious waiting and several phone calls, I got to talk to a Supervisor. According to Optic Planet, the tru-dot sight had been discontinued. Therefore, the one sent is the same, really!!! Anyways, do not order it. Get the newer version tru-vision. Hopefully, optic Planet won't substitute it for a lesser model!

Great for X-95
Excellent product. Pleased with build quality and ease of use. Recently, I took a Tavor class from IMI and used this Meprolight red dot product along with the Meprolight 3x Flip magnifier. Both Meprolight products exceeded expectations and were easy to use and effective.
Pros:
- Ease of use
Cons:
- No issues or complaints.
Best Used for:
- CQB trainning and out to 200 meters

I own a total of three of these Meprolight RDS sights! I have owned other RDS sights, but the others do not compare to the value or features. The recent OpticsPlanet sale was around 50% off regular price! This sight maintains zero when you take off and intall to same position. The thumb locks stay secure and are adjustable. The red dot is adjustable for light conditions, not a lot of settings, but what you need. Runs on a standaed AA battery! JUst one! It is water resistant, I do not plan on swimming with it, but should I get stuck out in the weather here in Michigan, it will still work. I mounted this recent purchase on my DSA SA-58, works great all day!
Pros:
- Quality equal to EOtech
Cons:
- not getting it for free!
Best Used for:
- All around anything
- All around shooting needs

For less than $300 I love it
With tax I paid just less than $300 for this and for that I’m happy with it. The way the window is designed works great if you have both eyes open. I’m probably describing it poorly but if you close one eye if feels kind of tunneled but when you open both it feels natural to me. Much more so than on my other sights of this type (eo tech and Steiner r1x). The dial at the back of the Meprolight is easier for me than the button on the side of Steiner. The dot seems crisper on the Steiner though. It’s polymer but it doesn’t feel cheap at all to me.

Mepro M5 RDS
I bought this Mepro M5/RDS Pro for my IWI Tavor SAR. Excellent optic. Clear glass, really nice tactil and audible detents on windage and elevation knobs. I just use a shell casing to turn them. As mentioned by most, it would be nice if there were more selections for brightness, but it is totally usable with the available selections they offer. It does suffer a little parallax, and the base could be a bit taller to offer a nicer cheek weld on a Tavor. it would be fine as is on a AR15 rail.
Pros:
- durable
- Affordable
- Precise & Accurate
Cons:
- Brightness adjustment range is not great
Best Used for:
- CQB - 200 yards

Top quality
I've used EOTech in the past and I prefer the meprolight over it. It's got a nice view window to it. Right out of the box it seems to be accurate love that it only takes 1 AA Battery and the auto on/off it has. If your wanting a nice Red dot optic I'd go with this one. Don't waste your money and time on other brands.
Pros:
- Only 1 AA Battery and auto on/ff
Cons:
- None I've found yet.

Perfect for Tavor X95
Very well designed. AA battery, great attachment system, clear glass and perfectly aligned with the pop-up sights on the Tavor X95. I onn an Aimpoint Pro and a Trijicon Accupoint; all things considered, including price, ease of mounting and operation, I believe this is my favorite of the three.
Pros:
- Mounting system
- price construction quality
- AA battery power
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- CQB - 200 yards

Mepro Red Dot Sight Pro/M5
Purchased this optic for my Tavor X95. Truly co-witnesses with the factory Iron Sights. Zeroing is effortless. Just takes a coin, or the rim of a casing to turn the dial. Has four different settings for the brightness of the red dot. It has an auto shut off feature when left alone for a period of time.(No more dead batteries from forgetfulness!) I’ve used it in indoor ranges and outdoor ranges on bright sunny days with zero problems. The window is quite large and is great for using both eyes to focus on the dot and having situational awareness. I’ve purchased the Meprolight MX3 Scope to go along with it for longer range shots. All around great setup for the X95.
Pros:
- rugged
- reliable
- Easy to install and use
Cons:
- A bit large, but not too large
Best Used for:
- Range use
- Room clearing/home defense

Accurate and reliable
Great RDS. Large, clear sight picture with a sturdy and tight feel. Dot is unmistakable in all lighting conditions that I've thrown at it. Battery life is great and also a real plus that it uses regular ol' AA's. Perfect!
