thingsRP45's Review of MGW Armory Sight-Pro Compact Sight Tool

Used to complete a Remington RP9 slide. Used Remington RP45 slide shoe #154 (in stock at OP). Interchanges with RP9 slide. Also had to use optional extra cost "low mount pusher block". Regular pusher block was too high for RP9 slide. Watch MGW YouTube video dated 2016 to adjust large white delrin pad. The key to success. Had to remove both steel washers underneath Delrin pad. Adjusted low mount pusher block down to dovetail parts of sights. Got to use grease type lube on turning screw and dovetail cuts. Oil just drips off. Not useful. Need lube with "extreme pressure additives" to ease sight moving effort. RIG +P Stainless Steel Lube on screw and Mil-CommTW25B grease in dovetail cuts. "Off the shelf" gun lube. Automotive type lubes can also be used.
Front sight went in easy. Started with just finger pressure. No problem inserting into dovetail cut. Trouble started with rear sight. Very tight fit, hard to move. Had to use hammer and punch to start it into dovetail cut. Had to put SightPro in a vise. Had to use padded leather gloves to avoid hand pains due to extra effort needed to turn screw T-handle. Handle seems too short and skinny. Screw seems too small to transmit adequate power to pusher block to move stubborn sight. Slow going. Finally got it. General impression of tool "straining" to move stubborn sight. Could feel "pops" as pusher block overcame irregularites in dovetail cut. Got an emergency 9mmLuger slide for RP45 now. Avoiding corona virus gun and ammo buying panic. "Most bang for the buck" thanks to SightPro. MGW needs a new more powerful model.
Pros:
  • With proper options, best tool for the job.
Cons:
  • Handle too small, screw too small for stubborn sights
Best Used for:
  • pistols other than Springfield XD
