The NOAA weather channel feature is indispensable whether on the trails or the water, offering up to the minute weather reports. And to be able to operate in soggy conditions provides a peace of mind.
Extended range capabilities are always a plus, but the X-Talker Extreme, like every other UHF hand transmitter will be negatively affected by mountains, dense forest, thick fog or cloud cover, and tall concrete buildings. Just know its limitations and work within those parameters.
