Works great - Midwest Industries Extended Universal AK47/74 Handguard With Standard Topcover

So this extended rail works great on my akm. I love the ak pattern rifle, but I feel there are two significant flaws from a modern perspective - the ability to mount optics easily, and a rather short area for gripping the rifle. The rifle fixes one of those (and possibly both, depending on your setup).

Word of caution. You must cut the sling loop off of the hand guard retainer. If you have a dremel with a cut-off wheel and a grinding wheel, and a bluing pen or can of black spray paint, this will take you less than five minutes. However, you cannot undo this modification if you wanted to get rid of the rail. This only applies to the extended hand guard.

Rail locks up solid. You may want to order the Midwest Industries Receiver Block to go with this, but it is not required.
