Most Helpful Positive Review Works Great
So this extended rail works great on my akm. I love the ak pattern rifle, but I feel there are two significant flaws from a modern perspective - the ability to mount optics easily, and a rather short area for gripping the rifle. The rifle fixes one of those (and possibly both, depending on your setup). Word of caution. You must cut the sling loop off of the hand guard retainer. If you have a dremel with a cut-off wheel and a grinding wheel, and a bluing pen or can of black spray paint, this will take you less than five minutes. Unexpected issues

While a very nice upper and lower handguard, there is something that should have been disclosed. My particular AK has a two piece (stage) barrel. This means your handguard will end up cockeyed. Mine was about 3/32” lower towards the receiver. Does not seem like much but looked bad when assembled. Luckily I did not use lock tight without making sure first that it looked okay. I ended up welding a piece to level off. A finished end that backs up at the receiver would have made things easier. Looks great now and although it deserves 4 or 5 stars otherwise, this should have been disclosed by the manufacturer.

Doesn't fit RPK

The quality of the item is very good, but the clamping system has no wiggle room. It wouldn't fit over my RPKs ticket barrel. I assume this would also apply to Veprs and other AK type guns with heavy barrels.
