Worth the money - Midwest Industries MI GEN2 SUB 2000 T1/T2 Optic Mount

There are two products on the market that allow you to mount an optic on your SUB 2000 and maintain the ability to fold it. I spent a lot of time researching both and I selected this one because it allows your firearm to occupy the same (approximate) footprint when folded. The other product positions your optic at a 45-ish degree angle when folded and, therefore, causes it to protrude. In other words, if you lie the folded gun on a table, the optic sticks up above it, keeping it from being flat and from fitting in the same form factor bag as would a laptop. No, there'd be a bulge sticking up from the protruding optic.

For THAT reason, the desire to fit the device comfortably in a carrying bag of some sort and to maintain a minimal footprint, I chose this -- and I am so glad I did.

The instructions are not great (and they don't tell me when or where to apply the included Loctite style product) they did get me to an installed red dot. The cord included to hold the charging handle back (it locks in a closed position, but it's easy to bump and release; this cord is the "safety" that keeps that handle from slamming your optic if that happens). I sighted it in and it was pretty close to being on target out of the box (a Sig Romeo 5 if you're wondering). I also find the device easy to swivel -- easier than I thought -- but it does lock up pretty well. I have read some concerns about "wiggle" and mine is minimal. This is a pistol caliber... I am not going for precision rifle accuracy. It maintained zero throughout my initial testing of 100 rounds.

I do think it's a little expensive for what it is, but it is a specialty/niche product. In order to recoup investment, they have to charge more because this isn't a firearm that's in everyone's gun safe.

Worth it? Well, if you prefer a red dot to a peep sight and you can turn a hex screw with the included tool and can afford a red dot, yes, it is. It's not PERFECT (the aforementioned paracord to hold the charging handle) and the horror that you (or maybe it was just me) are a purist and think scope mounts CANNOT MOVE EVER. Get over that and you've got an amazing device. This mount fits a Holosun 403B, and a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 (tested by me) as well as the Aimpoint Micro it was made to fit and others as well. I just can speak to those.
