The tool works well but the vinyl dipped coating is not durable at all. I have used this to swap 2 handguards and the vinyl coating is already torn through on both sides and I had to wrap it in electric tape to prevent it from scratching my deltarings

After struggling getting the first hang guard I bought from Midwest Industries I decided to buy the removal tool when I just bought a new drop in hand guard with M-Lok from MI. The tool worked great getting the hand guard off but it got in the way when trying to put the new hand guard on. The hand guard would hit the tool preventing my wife from putting the guard on. We had to ditch it and use good ol fashioned hand muscle to hold the delta ring down so my wife could put the guard on.

In my initial use of this tool it worked flawlessly, however the bottom hook was far too short and slipped out of my mag well. This caused the delta ring to slip, and tear up the rubber on the gripping arms. The rubber on the mag well hook also tore. If the hook were longer it probably would have gripped properly, but as is it's not worth the money I paid for since it only worked right on the first use.
Cons:
- Hook too short, slipped out of the mag well.

Any AR owner knows replacing the hand guards can be tough with two hands. I was surprised by the great quality of this item, especially for the price. Well made, with rubber along most of the metal to protect your AR from scratches. It's easy to use, makes changing the hand guards easy with two hands.
Pros:
- easy to use
- great value for the price

For the beginner this tool is a must for changing out your hand guard or anyone that likes to work on there gun.
Makes removing the stock handguard easy. For - $10 its definately worth it. But by no means a must to remove your handguard. Just makes it easier. Its made of a hard rubber type material that will not damage / mark your gun.

Very simple to use and made the job quick and easy. It's not that hard to pull the ring down but removing the hand guard at the same time with out a vise to secure the gun you pretty much have to have three hands.
Best Used for:
- Applying vertical grip & rail

As others have said: it definitely moves the spring and allows you to remove the hand guards but...the soft plastic covering that protects your gun from damage lasts one time only. That spring is really strong and the grip on the tool is pretty flexible. I only needed it one time so I am satisfied but you will have to wrap the tool with some kind of tape to use it again so it won't damage the spring capture piece.
Pros:
- works
- Works but will need to be wrapped again
Cons:
- Will need to be wrapped again

Ordered a new hand guard and decided to get this little tool to help my build. It’s metal wrapped in rubber. Works with friction to pull down the hand guard retention piece by hooking into the magwell. Super simple and I was able to do it with no table vice and a sprained wrist!
