TZ23's Review of Midwest Industries Side Folder With MI Stock Tube
Bullet points:
- This is a tough, weighty piece of kit. About 12, 13 oz by itself, I believe.
- They include allen keys and thread locker, which is nice to see.
- The folding actuation mechanism on my particular example is really, really stiff. First opening took a lot of force. Oil and working it more has helped, but it's definitely not going to just fold on you out of the blue.
- If you're running it on an AK, the folder might interfere with the optic rail's QD mount. I'm using it with a ZPAP M70 and it's just sticking out far enough to prevent the mount from being installed or removed. Fortunately, however...
- You can change the orientation of the flip from left to right by removing two screws from the open mount that are holding in the tube section. You simply do that, then turn the tube 180 degrees. Reinstall the screws. Boom, done.
- The detent is reasonably strong on my ZPAP, but it's likely not being allowed to open all the way, allowing for movement if I shake the thing up and down. If I'm not actively trying to get it to move, it doesn't.
