Form and maybe even function while you're at it.

It was a bit of serendipity. I picked up the L frame 686 after holding it and a GP100 at a pawn shop. Despite being partial to Ruger I chose the Smith based on the additional capacity. Practicality is not usually a consideration for one of these vanity projects, and it still wasn't in this case. I just figured it'd be funny if the side arm I was building out to pair with the cut down Marlin lever action I put together earlier this year had a higher capacity.

As I prepared to find the handguard I was going to cut and machine to fit the revolver, I stumbled across the MWI Bounty Hunter. I'd unintentionally bought the compatible revolver. I'd already cut up an MWI handguard for the aforementioned Marlin. I don't believe in much, but that seemed like as close to a sign as anyone could hope for.

The installation was intuitive. I didn't need instructions to get it together, but I do have a fair bit of experience hobbling together firearms from sourced and handmade parts. Everything seems incredibly solid and I have no concerns with maintaining zero with the SCRS I mounted up top.

That said, my main concern is the aesthetics. MWI nailed it in my opinion. I have my doubts about any touted practicality or function added by the system beyond the optic mounting. But that is not the point at all, at least not for me. I just wanted a space cowboy range toy, and this is an off the shelf solution.
