MI URR is for pimps
This is the only correct receiver rod to loosen barrel nuts. You can split (as I have done) your receiver at the indexing pin slot or barrel nut if using a Geissele or Magpul BEV block. Works just as great for torquing as well. Highly recommended.

Sail was clocked waaay off
The sail was visibly hanging to one side. Its so tight in the barrel extension and upper, it won't fit unless the two line up just-so, yet the tool is mistimed. What a joke. Makes life easier
This Midwest upper receiver rod is a solid tool — saved me a ton of time getting barrel nuts on and off. Sturdy, fits well, and gave me smooth leverage without fuss. If you wrench on barrels at all, this is one of those little tools you’ll use all the time.

Was So Impressed, I bought both size Rods
I had previously purchased the Geissele Super Rod for my AR15 builds, and was satisfied. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. However when I had to replace the muzzle device on my AR10, I came across this item, and liked what I was seeing. Especially liked the fact that it engaged the charging handle groove of the upper to keep this all in-line and relieved stress points when replacing barrels, but could be removed should it become necessary. Additionally all steel construction.

Good product
Glad I went with this, it made installing my first barrel straightforward. Minimal upper receiver movement after clamping the rod in a vise. Receiver rod seems sturdy and should last forever.

I got this to help align/realign barrels to the upper receivers for smoother bolt lockup and so far it's working as intended.

PSA AR10 20" SS barrel.
Had to replace the muzzle device with a supressor mount. Slid in easy and held the upper snug. Like the fact that the rod not only engages the barrel, but slots into the charging handle groove. Those that had problems with fitting to tight may want to check their upper to barrel alignment. All steel and sure will last mutable lifetimes.

A perfect tool for the job
Used this tool within days of receipt to change out the barrel of my AR-18. Changed from a standard 16 inch 5.56 to an 18 inch 223 Wylde stainless fluted barrel. The tool worked perfectly using a clawfoot/breaker bar to hold the tool and a barrel nut clawfoot with torque wrench for the barrel not. Worked perfectly and after assembly checked headspace, alignment, all perfect.
