I gave this baton only 3 stars because although it is a name brand baton used by law enforcement the quality of the baton is quite questionable. the baton only collapses in half making it a little lengthy. the thickness of the baton is unquestionably great gives great striking momentum. its down fall is that it does not feel sturdy the striking area of the baton wiggle as if it were loose not delivering a completely firm strike giving the impression that the baton will break. the pin lock is great because I don't need to bang it on anything to collapse it or struggle in any way shape or form. the overall sturdiness of the baton feels like if you strike a hard surface it will break
