I needed a new optic for my 16" AR-SPR. After reading a bunch of reviews about one to six or one to eight optics found everyone saying either the one power is good and no good on the top end or vice versa. I thought to myself why buy quality optic and I have to pick one of the options to be good? This is when I thought about using a three to nine optic but I wanted to be able to have a parallax focus knob because none of the one to six or one to eight optics have that ability. I have used monstrum in the past with good luck and I found this three to nine first focal plane optic with a really good illuminated reticle that is very much like some of the primary arms optics. When this came in I was happy to see it as well built everything on it works the way it should and after I add a micro red dot at 12 oclock, this will be the perfect setup for a mid to long range designated marksman or special purpose AR.
Pros:
- first focal plane, side parallax focus, price versus quality is excellent! and it is relatively lightweight.
Cons:
- this is being picky but the only thing I dislike is the turret locks they work fine just not my cup of tea
Best Used for:
- Target shooting & defence
- close range out to 600 plus yards.

Not quite up to par.
I have been using/choosing Monstrum now for 3 years for High Feature Budget Optics. I tried 3 of this model and there seems to be defects on the reticle glass. Once magnified there are minor flaws in the glass that appear as dark grey spots. I bought and returned 3 models because I wanted that reticle in a 3-9 x 40 on my range rifle, but i just couldn’t see past the spots. The entire presentation for this model is spectacular. Controls, lighting, profile, and the rings are all on point. Monstrum has other similar models that are flawless, I seem to run into a string of this model only.
Pros:
- Price
- Tons of Features
Cons:
- grey spots in reticle glass
