Hello,
I am kinda new to optics but I know what I like.
I wasn’t really educated on the value of FFP targeting until I spent some time with FFP and SFP. I like the reticle getting big with the picture as it zooms in, as it also gets smaller as the shooter zooms out. I have noticed that other manufactures add $500 to the price of their scope when they add this feature. Monstrum Alpha, G2 and G3 all offer this view option.
Next- A clear picture is a must! At every magnification, I gotta be able to see. That’s when I learned about Eye Relief and Eye Box. Nicer scopes are not only clear at low magnification, but remain clear through the range and allow the shooter to position their eyes at various distances behind the scope - (eye relief) and allow the shoot to place their head in a slightly different position each time they aim - left and right, up and down- (eye box). The better the scope, usually the bigger the eye box and longer eye relief. My G3 is the best combination of the mentioned features I have encountered.
Finally, the scope must hold it’s zero. The internal construction and the mounting hardware play a major role here. The Monstrum Alpha and G3 utilize brass internals throughout ( like precision watch parts) to ensure accuracy and durable adjustability. If i could make an improvement, it would be the mounting bolts themselves. Their standard hardware works fine- if you use a little loc tite when you install and leave it alone, however, if you plan t...
