Best Camping Investment Ever
I had to replace a good Sierra Designs tent that had not remotely survived a serious wind storm in the desert. Since then (1999) I have owned the Mountain Hardware Trango 3 and it is still going strong as day one. I have used it from the Everglades to Olympic National Park, in all 4 seasons. I have never had any issue with it's construction or materials. In fact for all purposes it still appears almost brand new. Never gotten damp inside when properly vented, never any problems with a zipper or the Easton poles. I have always used a ground tarp and the fly, although one can opt not to use the fly. There are plenty of guy line points.
This is not a dedicated backpacking tent for 1-2 people, there are better options for that. I have split the tent, fly, poles and stakes into separate packs though and this works well. This tent easily accommodates 2 with gear, or 3 with gear in the vestibules. I mainly use this tent for camping out of the truck or out of the drift boat. No amount of rain, snow, or wind has had any effect. In fact that is one of my favorite points about this tent... when the wind is ripping outside, this tent is extremely stable and quiet... nothing flaps. It is tight and aerodynamic.
This is a serious well built tent that will not let you down and worthy of the investment.
