Chipguy's Review of MTM High-Low Shooting Table

I was considering building a portable shooting table but after pricing the materials like plywood, pipe flanges, pipe, etc the materials cost alone was rapidly approaching a hundred dollars plus my time. I looked at a lot of commercial benches and reviews over the last year and had had not seen this table until recently. The few reviews were pretty good and I liked the fact I could use it sitting or standing and the size was just a little smaller than I had planned building. I took a chance and ordered one.

It arrived in a fairly large box that is more unwieldy than heavy and there is a lot of dead space in it but it survived shipping well. There are only two parts - the table top and leg assembly.

I had a chance to test it with some friends this past weekend and initially I was concerned about the single attachment point and whether the table would be steady. Once tightened down and the leg spikes driven well into the ground the table top is remarkable steady and does not flex very much. My friends were impressed by how stable it was after expressing the same initial skepticism I had.

Cons - It is not large enough to handle my full compliment of gear including rifle, rest, chronograph, pressure trace, laptop, etc but it is good for hauling out for an impromptu session of sighting in or prairie dog hunting.

Pros - Overall I think it is a good value. It has versatility in the height adjustment. It is relatively stable once the spike are driven in. I would recommend it perhaps not as a primary shooting bench but certainly as a portable one.
