Most Helpful Positive Review A great AR tool at a great price!
This AR Receiver vise block tool is used for aligning and clocking the buffer tube to the 6 o'clock position, perfectly every time! It is easy to use, and works. The block is well machined from aluminum block, with rounded corners and a nice anodized blue finish. There is a NcStar video, online that...

Most Helpful Negative Review A One Trick Pony
This thing does one thing well; it holds the lower and the buffer tube while you torque the castle nut...that's all. Otherwise, it has no further advantage over a mag well vise block. its a pain in the A** to set up and holds the receiver at an odd angle that doesn't line up with the buffer tube cla...

Looks Good on Paper, Falls Short in Practice

by Bigtime, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 17, 2025
This tool technically does what it claims, but not very well. The first issue is that when you mount your lower, it doesn’t sit perfectly level — it’s angled. While it does hold the buffer tube enough to torque the castle nut, the tube can still shift slightly if you’re not paying close attention, which defeats the main purpose of the jig.

On top of that, you’ll likely find yourself taking everything apart just to double-check alignment, since it’s difficult to verify while it’s mounted. The adjustment screws also leave much to be desired, adding to the frustration.

Overall, this is not a tool I would recommend. Save yourself the headache (and a return label) and look for a better option.
Pros:
  • holds a lower receiver
Cons:
  • Too many to list here. See review.

Easy button

by Craig D, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on June 21, 2025
This really makes it much easier to torque the castle nut and keep proper timing of your buffer tube. Also prevents damage. Staking is much easier as well. Would recommend purchasing if you like to do things with the proper tools.

Buffer tube installation aid

by bracketracer, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on June 9, 2025
It is always a struggle to torque the castle nut on an AR. Really needs three hands to hold back on the buffer tube, hold the castle nut wrench in place, and pull on the torque wrench. If you don’t keep the buffer tube aligned it can be damaged by the tooth on the lower receiver’s back plate. At the minimum. You might end up with a buffer tube that’s not clocked right. This tool works well to hold your lower receiver and buffer tube firmly and in alignment so you can torque and stake the castle nut. I did try this with several brands of billet and forged receivers and they all fit fine. Does not require a large amount of torque to secure the buffer tube in the clamp so just snug it up with your fingers. The screw underneath adjusts the height for AR15 or AR10 receivers. Again, doesn’t need to be tight, the slot in the tool holds the buffer tube clamp from rotating and leaves your hands free to operate the torque wrench.

Good Value

by F4 Phantom Electrician, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 30, 2025
It does the job that it is intended to do. Yes, there are other more expensive receiver blocks that probably do a little more and a little
better than this block does. But, for someone that doesn't build 100's or thousands of lowers this works very well.
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Fits 5.56 lower
  • Does the job and looks good
Cons:
  • Screw for pistol grip screw can be difficult to thread
Best Used for:
  • Lower receiver builds
