Most Helpful Positive Review Ncstar ultimate sighting system
First off optics planet did a great job with my order. Confirmation email with in a hour. I got my tracking number next day and it showed up when they said it would. Took about a week to get. Nicely packaged and perfect condition. The scope I believe to be great quality. I used a bore sighter to d...

Most Helpful Negative Review NcStar Gen II 3-9x42 Junk. Junk. Junk.
I thought I'd take a chance on this scope and hope for the best. Not so. The reflex sight is defective straight out of the box. I contacted NcStar and they will not send a shipping label to return it to them for warranty. As I told Matt, the tech support manager, I can see me paying for the ship...

Issues out of the box

by Machine, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on January 10, 2026
I purchased the optic about a week ago, upon arrival, using the included tools (as well as my own),I was not able to remove the battery cover for the red dot. It seems like a nice optic and I am happy to update when I have a resolution, but it didn’t work for me from the start. It does seem well built, and I would like it to be a bit larger/easier on the eyes, but for the price point it’s definitely a good looking optic, it just didn’t work for me.

Low Grade Optic

by Mr Green, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on July 1, 2025
Because of the price I did not expect much and that’s exactly what I got. It’s a serviceable system, but the micro red dot is almost impossible to zero. The scope is not bad but it feels like a cheap optic, which is what it is. I would have returned it, but my wife threw away the box so now I’m stuck with it.

really disappointed

by SWMInoob, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on May 21, 2025
First, I am new to scopes and one thing this product did not have was any instructions on proper installation. Second, the clamp system for the rail would only stay on for a couple of rounds and then became so loose it would fall off. The red-dot is cheap and barely put together.

A combo unit for short range scope and micro red dot

by Dave-in-Texarkana, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on March 8, 2025
Haven't installed it yet. It seems fairly well constructed though there's a slide switch on the back of the red dot that appears very unsealed - like something you'd find on a piece of indoor electronics, not a field weather protected switch. The other switches are very difficult to turn, so assume they have an o-ring.

The windage adjustment is sealed, you just turn it on the outside - no locking feature. The elevation adjustment has a cap and a screw inside to adjust, the cap has an o-ring. This difference is unusual.

The scope is illuminated and the battery access is on the left, on top of the on/off/strength turret. The manual says it comes pre-installed - it does not. The red dot battery is under the red dot (a common configuration) and you have to take it off it's mount to insert/replace the battery.

The manual also says the red dot is mounted on a picatinny/weaver rail and comes off the tube mount which encircles the scope in the back half - it does not. I'm not sure how it comes off, if at all. There's supposed to be a thumb nut to remove it, this is missing on the red dot.

It appears this is designed by an engineer with no shooting experience, and no shooting consultant to advise on the design. I need to put the batteries in and see if it all works. If so, then try it on the intended rifle (Ruger 10/22 carbine). If it all works, I'll probably keep it anyway because it was $70 and I don't intend to stress it durability wise. If any issues, I will return for mo...

Meets my needs

by Time Bomb, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on January 3, 2025
Product arrived in a timely fashion, mounted to the pica tinny rail w/o issue and got it zeroed in very quickly. Good scope, reasonal=ble price and meets the needs of an average shooter. I'm not looking to win competitions, just be able to see my target pull the rtrigger and hit it. Much better than the iron sites I was using for short distances (100-200 yds) and low lite conditions where it's hard to pick out a deer in the dim light.
Pros:
  • eas of use, appearance
  • Ease of install
Cons:
  • Magnification adjustment ring

Mr Gary Stipes

by Hottub, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on July 1, 2024
This thing looks awesome on my red aero precision. 556. The sniper scope is very accurate.i only had trouble with the attached red dot,I couldn't get it to zero in, because the adjustment screws bottomed out or just seized. I got an RMA to send it back for repair. Hope they can repair it. It was the primary reason I was drawn to this setup, honestly
Pros:
  • Looks and quality of the sniper scope
Cons:
  • Red dot wouldn't adjust properly

Broken Red Dot

by Nicholas Vang, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on March 11, 2024
I had the scope mounted on my AR with the scope covers on and then I accidentally dropped it. Of course, I did my research on this scope and saw that it could withstand a beating, but lo and behold it had broken. The red dot on top of the scope had shattered but luckily the scope still works and kept zero. On the bright side, it keeps zero and is accurate and easy to adjust, but what use is a scope if it can’t handle a 3 ft drop.
Pros:
  • Looks nice
  • Comes with batteries
  • keeps zero well
Cons:
  • Not durable
Best Used for:
  • Plinking & target practice
