Turtle's Review of NcSTAR Gun Accessorie - Pistol & Rifle Laser With Weaver Base APRLS

So there is a reason this is so cheap guys. First off, when it comes, it is very confusing as there is tape over the key pin for the rail. Once you figure it out, and figure out the right procedure for the batteries, this is where the fun begins.

As you mount it, you will notice that there are 2 ALLAN heads that adjust up/down, right/left. Useless. The reason it's useless is that it doesn't hold up. I spent 25 minutes, along with a bore laser and still could zero it completely. the only way to do it, would be to turn it in such a manner that the on/off slider was up and down, and not usable on an under mount.

But wait, there's more. Once I set it up, I figure, let's try it out. As I stand on the line, with many others waiting to show all these iron sighted losers how I upgraded my game, and went to PEW PEW mode, imagine my surprise when I hear the range spotter yell, "miss"... "miss"... Mind you, I had just about zeroed it with a bore sight, so unless the bullet was a decedent of the Oswald magic bullet family, something was a miss. Being the skilled weekend warrior, I pressed forth. I finished the mag, realized it was very low and left. I grabbed my included Allen wrench, and adjust it only to find, it won't go any farther.

At this point, I go with traditional iron sights, as I don't want to look even more stupid. As I stair down the sights, line up the paper target that I am ready to dispatch with extreme prejudice, and squeeze a round off, boom. I see this black thing flying through the air.

Almost in slow motion, I watch as the laser light is swirling like the end of a Disney Adventure theme day, and lands about 10 feet onto the range. How fun is it, that I than hear CEASE FIRE as I have to go out, and collect pieces of my prized sight that I so was looking forward to installing. One of the range officials, who legit was in the Military, and had that feel about him, took it and checked it out. As he put it on his gun, it missed every shot. Mind you, this is the type of guy that could shoot a gnat off a fly's rear end at 100 yards. He tells me he can't quite figure it out, but we put it back on my gun.

Well, as the gun is sitting there, on safe, unloaded, and down range we see this light on the back wall just flickering. It's as if the police are there or something. On, Off, On, Off...... It was the laser sight. Seems that if you can manage to keep it secured onto the weapon, the screw on back plate, which also houses the "on off switch" unscrews itself. Which shorts it out and makes it turn off and on.

After 20 minutes of laughing at it, and realizing that it was junk I took it off and put in my gun bag. I now currently own the worlds most expensive cat laser pointer.

And the best part, was even indoors, it was good for the first 20 minutes. Than the batteries start to wain and the laser becomes dull to the point you have to keep making sure that it is even on. And on this model, unlike guns, Red means safe. We all see how this could be confusing since on EVERY gun, Red = Dead... They couldn't even put the on off color properly to a fire arm.

I would advise somebody if they were looking for an edge, or a laser sight to do a couple things. 1. Spend an extra 10 bucks and buy a Laser Bore sight. 2. Buy the high vis sight stickers. If that still isn't enough, and you find yourself truly buying this product, go to the dollar store, get a laser pointer, and a roll of duct tape. I promise you, it will work better. And if after that, you still are purchasing from NuStar, take your gun, and ammo, and all accessories to the guns shop or pawn shop, and sell it immediately as you have no business in the sport of fire arms.
Pros:
  • Looks cool
Cons:
  • everything else
Best Used for:
  • Toy for cats.
