Most Helpful Positive Review NcSTAR Tactical Red Dot Black Sight
The best sight for the money you can get. Pros: Great Price, easy to install and use. Works nicely.
Most Helpful Negative Review Out of box problems
I should know better with NcStar products, have gone this route before. Out of box noticed lens has slight movement back and forth. Four screws hold lens hood in place one screw missing.Only reason I did'nt throw it in the garbage is I am using it on a 22,and it might hold up to light use. Not worth...

Not a dot in the lense, a vertical line

by RW Sports, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on November 4, 2023
This unit is not worth the money spent, there is no dot on the Lense, it is a vertical line from the center point of the Lense up. No matter how you hold it the glare from the glass reflects the dot up. I have to hold the sight 2 inches from my face to keep it from doing this. It looks like a vertical green line.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • not a dot, poor glass
Best Used for:
  • dropping it in the ocean

Works For Me!

by Miguel, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on August 18, 2023
Did some tinkering to make it a rmr styled optic for my FN 509. It held its zero after shooting 200 rounds of 124gr 9mm without any need for adjustment. And to my surprise, I may be of the very lucky few...the dot is actually a clear clean dot without the starburst effect.

The One I got works as it should

by Jim, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on June 8, 2023
Mounted this on a Marlin 60 22 cal semi auto loader. NOTE: very tiny movements to adjust this little guy. After a bit found that about the width of the micro slot screw driver blade movement wise was all you needed. Took a bit but got it dialed in and was eating the heart out of the target at 25yards. The main reason I purchased this was for the low profile as I have other reflex sights that stick up a lot. The other factor was for a first time buy the price was right. Not much else I can say Optics planet does have a good return policy so the other sight I purchased when it came to be adjusted had no adjustment and it has been returned. Please that this worked out and can be used.

NcStar Tactical Blue Dot Sight

by Good shite, from LA, United States Written on October 28, 2020
I purchased this sight for my fiancé’s Roger mk iv .22/.45 and the only complaint I have is the size of the window. But then again, it’s a .22 so you can shorten your grip and see the dot perfectly. I will say this, bc some people may be like me and will find this interesting... BLUE DOTS ARE MEANT FOR PEOPLE WITH COLORBLINDNESS. It’s not just for looking cool. It’s a little harder to see outside, but it’s meant to help shoot at night if absolutely necessary. Overall, great sight, stellar price
Pros:
  • Small compact
  • $
Cons:
  • dot blurring
Best Used for:
  • Pistol
  • Small .22
  • Anything with minimal kick

A Christmas Present that failed out of the box...

by Mark, from WA, United States Written on March 7, 2020
My wife bought this at full retail price for me a few years ago. I decided to finally mount the unit on my Model 41 S&W. Out of the box, it would not turn on. Replaced the battery thinking it might be "toast" and noticed that the wiring coming from under the battery PCB was damaged from lack of clearance via the routing and machining tolerances. I am an associate engineer with 25 years in R&D and I have never seen worse engineering on a product. The unit will turn on with the lower mounting portion not in place. As soon as you put the two halves together the LED turns off. I thought about sending it in for $10 S&H fee, but then I read the reviews... unless there has been a revision in the design it appears this would be wasted time, money and effort. NcStar has lost a customer.
