It took me several hours to mount this on my SAR-1, but I took my time, made some "mod's" and it is rock solid. Yes I had to some filing,& had to make a metal clip to go on the bottom of the square hole for the return spring lug to hold the dust cover "firmly" down on the receiver,(and file the top up a bit). Then I got some good quality 4mm cap screws & nuts to stabilize the unit (the factory screws were sloppy). Next the scope rings were useless, they were high mount see through rings (not the ones shown on-line) which you would need a ladder to see through, so I got a set of Leopold "medium" mounts and used those ($15). After reading reviews I knew this would be a pain the be-hind, but it was the design I wanted so it was worth the effort. You want a scope as low as possible to match your check weld on the buttstock & this one get's er done, I even had to notch my scope's lens cover because there wasn't enough clearance between the rail & scope for it to slip on. I think this item is discontinued so I got it delivered for for $51, with the $15 for the rings & a little effort I am a happy camper!! No two AK's are alike, so if you don't have patience, don't buy.

I had to do some filing to get it to fit but looked good and worked for a short time then got quite wobbly. Scope is cheap mount is ok. I do recommend this tho...
