Most Helpful Negative Review I returned mine
I have an earlier model Night Owl that puts this one to shame. I found the image very dim, probably because at 4x magnification, less light reaches the image screen. Compared to my earlier model, this one is too dim to use. Pros: Well Constructed Cons: Dim Image

Pretty good for the price

by RC, from NY, United States Written on May 3, 2018
Just used this for the first time last week on a night hunt in South Carolina. It is super clear with great definition with even the slightest amount of ambient light (star light or even the moon through the clouds) once it is totally dark like no moon and cloud cover or as we experienced a thunderstorm, you will need the IR to see past 40 yards clearly.
My only complaint would be that more than once I wished it had adjustable magnification but hey I knew that when I bought it... .

Good value for what it is

by Irish26, from MA, United States Written on February 5, 2016
So far this has turned out to be a pretty good item. Adjusting the focus takes a few times to get used to, but once you figure it out, the clarity is pretty good. The field of view is a bit narrow, so it's kind of like having tunnel vision when you use it. I've used it a few times now and sight distance is better than I expected, although a higher magnification would be recommended if you want to target anything beyond 50-75 yards. The IR is a little weak, but again, for the price, you can't expect Gen 3 performance.

Works GREAT

by Legacy Reviewer, from WI, United States Written on December 12, 2013
Takes awhile fiddling with the monitor screen focus and the lens focus but once it's dialed in it's crystal clear at 75-100 yards. With some snow on the ground or a quarter to half moon can see out to 500 yards or more. In total darkness the I/R works good out to 100 yards or so - you may want to but a spot light or another illuminator. For the price and size it is well worth money. I thought it would be like looking thru a "Starlight" scope like in the John Wayne movie and it's way better than expected. It's the real deal and considering it's only GEN 1 it exceeded my expectations for a GEN 1 device.
Pros: Great Price and much better optics than expected for Gen 1
Cons: Can't see thru brush and trees

Not worth the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on October 30, 2012
If you turn on the IR, you might be able to see your feet so you don't fall. Other than that, you can't see 20 feet in an open field.
Pros: It turns on
Cons: You can't see anything.

Night Owl NexGen 4x

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on January 31, 2012
For a 1st generation night vision product, this is a very fine investment. I pick up a pretty decent range, and the optics and night vision sensitivity are good enough that I can pick up quite a lot of movement and activity when I even take this device out with me when I go hunting or on camping trips. Overall, you get a lot of night vision bang for your buck!
Pros: Good Optics, Nice Sensitivity for Night Vision
