I bought this for marine use, seeing unlit pilings and channel markers at night....didn't know much about infrared nightvision scopes, thought video quality was like we see on TV and movies, didn't know that stuff was 4 to 5 thousand dollars, or reserved for military....so this is relatively crude black and white image...but hey, it WORKS PERFECTLY for piling spotting in total darkness, and is extremely easy to use while steering...this is one-handed, easy click through 5 preset video settings till you get the image that works best in those conditions....I'm satisfied. I had considered taking it back for a bigger, or waterproof model, til I discovered they all use $7 Lithium 123 battery, while this little XGen uses 3 universal AA batteries I could find in any remote island I might sail away to, so I'm keeping it. Thanks Night Owl ! :)
Pros: Small, portable, easy, very inexpensive, uses cheap AA batteries
Cons: Video quality not what you see in the movies
