Most Helpful Positive Review Works great for marine use, spotting dark pilings
I bought this for marine use, seeing unlit pilings and channel markers at night....didn't know much about infrared nightvision scopes, thought video quality was like we see on TV and movies, didn't know that stuff was 4 to 5 thousand dollars, or reserved for military....so this is relatively crude b...

Most Helpful Negative Review Very interesting device but with shortcomings
This device is very interesting, being digital and clear to view, however the LCD screen is much too bright and spoils the night vision of your eye, and also the field of view is so small that you cannot orient yourself with this device at night. Pros: lightweight, compact, digital, clear Cons: L...

nightvisionmonocular

by Ted, from GA, United States Written on March 3, 2017
I recommended this product because it is in-expensive. This is a good "try this out" scope for the money. I rated it only 2 stars because it takes a great deal of adjustment while in use. It requires way to much adjustment for use in serious night hunting. One button increases the IR, and the other is 3 options of zoom. My biggest criticism is that when I carefully picked the distance and the IR setting and focused it on the area I was watching, those settings are not retained when the monocular is shut off. If I saw no game for 5 minutes or so, I'd power down for a while to save battery life. Turn the monocular back on to scan for game again, and I had to start over. It did not retain any settings and needed to be focused frequently. It sees well out to about 100 yards. It can be focused clearly, but it is sensitive. I purchased 2 of them so my friends and I could scan for hogs from our blind at night without having to use our NV equipped rifles to just look around. It was a good idea, but I will be talking to the Optics Planet guys and have them recommend one that I can turn on/ off, maybe have to focus a little, and it works. I expect it will cost more, but now that I have become hooked on night pig hunting, I am ready.
Pros:
  • Low cost

This thing worked fine for a few days and died. After I got it back from repair it died again. What a wast of time and money!
