Rascal's Review of NightForce ATACR 7-35x56mm Rifle Scope, 34mm Tube, First Focal Plane

I have this on my Tikka T3X TAC A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor in a Spuhr mount. It's a wicked combination. Yesterday i hit a soda can at 1,380 yards in 14 shots with it. There was a nasty 90 degree crosswind and tons of mirage to deal with. I have the Mil-XT reticle and honestly, if i could design a reticle myself, it would probably be either the Mil-XT or H-59. I absolutely love the Mil-XT reticle. The glass is superb. Truly superb. The scope itself is really rugged. The clicks and tracking are really great. The illumination is awesome. The 35x max magnification is really, really awesome.
Prior to putting this scope on my Tikka, i had the Steiner T5xi 5-25x56 on it. That scope has let me down in more ways than one. From poor glass quality to a broken parallax knob, (never been rough with it either) to that outdated, crappy, SCR reticle. What a let down.
So i have hit out over a mile. All my other optics get blurry out over a mile. Not this optic. I have hit a soda can in 3 shots at 1,004 yards as well as the aforementioned soda can hit at 1,380 yards in 14 shots in a nasty crosswind and horrible mirage. I honestly couldn't see the impacts on my background silhouette painted white at 1,380 yards because of the mirage. It wasn't until i had 2 close together that i could finally see an impact and make the correct hold adjustment to hit the can at that distance.
Hitting milk jugs at 1,400 yards is child's play with this scope.

  • Price but it's worth it.
