Not worth the money - NightForce SHV 5-20x56mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane

WS's Review of NightForce SHV 5-20x56mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane
Researched numerous scopes and settled with Nightforce. I have a closet full of mid-grade scopes that no doubt would add up to the cost of one terrific top of the line Nightforce. My first choice was the 5.5-22X56 MOAR NXS with Zero Stop. When I saw the SHV for half the price, I thought I would go with that. However, the SHV advertised it had Zero Set. For some strange reason, I couldn't find a good explanation as to the difference between Zero Stop and Zero Set. As a soon as I took the scope out of the box, I knew it wasn't what I expected. It basically was a $400 scope plus $600 for the Nightforce name. I have a terrific SWFA 5-15x42 Super Sniper, first focal, mil/mil that offers the more features for about $400 less. The glass was equal on both. Also, Zero Set is NOT the same as Zero Stop. Zero Set allows you to pop the turrets and set the turrets to zero after achieving your zero. I can do this on any of the SWFA Super Sniper models. Zero Stop allows you to return to your original zero after adjusting for multiple revolutions of elevation. Needless to say, I returned the SHV and immediately ordered the NXS. The NXS is everything I expected. The glass is also more crisp and clear. It's worth every penny.
