The Nikon AE 16x50 took me by surprise one near-dawn. Mounted only on a monopod I could discern the disk of Jupiter, 3 Gal moons lined up clearly and, at that particular time, Io emerging from behind at what must have been only 5" or so from the bright king of planets. That it wasn't in any way washed out by the very bright, though small, Jovian disk is a testament to the refinery of these non-ED glasses. Must be the quality of the coatings, no?
Also, they are tough as rhinos. You'll never have to give second thought about stuff like dirt or dread fungus in there. I have learned the hard way always to go for dry gas O-ring sealed bins. Without it, unless you only plan to use them indoors, the lifespan of the bin is way less. Whether one hunts, merely observes animals and other interesting objects or delves into the boundless celestial glories, you buy a faithful companion for at least 25 years if you acquire the Nikon 16x50 Action Extreme. And take it from me, they really do stand behind the warranty.
Pros:
great optics
Waterproofed Porros
Cons:
Maybe too much magnification for hand-holding
Best Used for:
hunting
Astronomy
Wildlife, birding
Would Recommend:
Yes
