Excelent value - Nikon 4-12x40mm ProStaff Rifle Scopes - Waterproof Hunting Scope

While I am by no means a pro, I do own several rifles with scopes that approach what I call Mid range(in excess of $300) Recently I picked up a Weatherby Magnum rifle. After a bit of digging and actually looking at a few scopes I decided on the Nikon 4-12x40 ProStaff for the following reasons.
1) Clarity - For my eyes the glass on this scope excels at its price point
2) Value - Again, for the features this scope in my opinion is tops
3) Power range- I loathe 3-9x scopes
4) good eye relief- This can be a very important feature for many of us and where Many other scopes ..Even very expensive scopes fall very short
5) precise crisp turret clicks- easy to move, sharp and positive. Other manufacturers should learn from Nikon on this!

So what are the shortcomings on this scope? This scope does many things well and that makes it hard to find any bad points, but it does have a few. At higher magnification the picture starts to get a bit fuzzy. Not too bad but it is noticeable.

Bottom line... For the $200 range the average Shooter/Hunter would be hard pressed to find a better value.
