Most Helpful Positive Review Nikon Coyote Special Series 4.5 - 14 X40 BDC Predator Model No. 8451
Beautiful cross hairs, range designators and clarity of optics. Pros: Sleek form, easy to adjust, just plain good looking. Cons: Max I colors are off a bit from true Max 1, a little too brown but very well applied.
Most Helpful Negative Review So close, yet so far...
Finally a moderately priced, quality scope, with the coyote hunter in mind. The camo pattern options are a little ugly, and a snow camo option would be ideal for many coyote hunters of the north, however they really missed having a great item with that reticle design. To not have any option for a ...

Perfect for my purposes

by D-money, from MO, United States Written on May 5, 2021
I have mine mounted on a Remington 270 for deer hunting and it is excellent for that as well as predator hunting. The glass is crystal clear , the aim points on the retical is very visible to me. I have mine set at 300 yards zero. The aim points work great for deer hunting because you don’t need pinpoint accuracy to take a deer.
Pros:
  • Great glass and affordable
Cons:
  • Not made anymore
Best Used for:
  • Deer hunting, coyote hunting, and long range shooting

Teriffic Scope - Truly Great Value

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on May 10, 2013
This scope is mounted on my Remington Model 700 SPS/Varmint in .308 cal. I have been able to consistently hit steel silouette targets at 1000 yards shooting from a rest & with sandbags. I don't need anything more accurate than that... Do you?
Pros: Nikon Optics are famous for good reason, this scope has many great features such as the BDC or Bullet Drop Compensator, paralax adjustment & 1/4" positive click elevation and windage adjustments and all at a price about half of the competition.
Cons: I can't think of any except somebody might want a mildot reticle which is not currently available to my knowledge.

coyote special review

by drledeal, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 20, 2013
this is my 5th Nikon purchase from Optics planet (two Coyote Specials, one M2233 scope, and two Monarchs). Glass is great on this scope. Easy to mount and the camo finish matches perfectly with my Savage Predator Rifle. I love the anti-reflective device that is included. Overall a great scope for the money. Highly recommend it to anyone for long range shooting.
Pros: very easy set up; great glass
Cons: none so far

Great night time scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on January 9, 2012
The reticle is geat for night time calling. You can center mass your target quicky for close range night time shots and still reach out there when you need to. The knobs are almost a turret style and are easy to adjust. The glass is clear and 200 yard shots are are a breeze. However, this reticle is not for target shooting! This was my first Nikon and I will buy more.
Pros: reticle and scope adjustments
Cons: none

Very Disappointed

by Legacy Reviewer, from CO, United States Written on August 15, 2010
This is my third Nikon scope, and up to this one I have been very happy. I wish I had returned this one earlier, but I learned my lesson. I have had a very difficult time shooting at small targets do to the poor light transmission and clarity, even on a sunny day, in the open. I have compared this to all of my other scopes, side-by-side, and it is very, very poor. This is my last Nikon.
Pros: Nice Camo Dip, Very Easy to use
Cons: Poor Picture Quality (very yellow, blurry)
Would recommend: No

Nikon Coyote Special Series 4.5 - 14 x40 Riflescope BDC Predator

by Legacy Reviewer, from TX, United States Written on March 5, 2010
I like this scope a lot. The camouflage matches my gun perfect, although I have seen some pictures of guns with this same scope on it and the camo didn't match the gun. I sighted the scope in in under an hour, its easy. The glass is great, even in low light conditions. i hunt predators at night with it. no need for for a 50mm objective with this scope. so that means you don't need a sun shade to hunt in the daylight hours. I would buy another one but I don't have a gun that needs one.
Pros: Its easy to use and set up.
Cons: It has to be on the hightest power to use the retical properly
