Most Helpful Positive Review Nikon Encore EER 2.5-8x28
I purchased this product for my Springfield Socom 16. I needed the extra eye relief, so I went with the pistol scope in mind. I was ready to go with one of the "TOP"scopes in the industry. The Nikon though had everything the other scope had except the price was nearly half that of the competitor. Th...

Most Helpful Negative Review Unusable Eye Relief
I bought this scope for my 500 S&W Magnum revolver for long-distance shooting since I am very happy with my other Nikons I have on rifles. I opt to pay a little more for the Nikon than an $80 handgun scope I bought at the same time. The eye relief of this Nikon makes it unusable at higher magnifica...

Nikon Encore 2.5-8X28 EER BDC

by Legacy Reviewer, from OK, United States Written on September 1, 2011
I recently purchased this scope to mount on my T/C Encore Pro-Hunter .308 pistol. When I first received the scope I looked it over and liked it. Fit & finish was good, optics were clear, plenty of light gathering for it's size. After mounting it, I found the eye relief to be a bit short at all magnifications greater than 2.5X but figured it didn't matter much as 2.5X was the magnification I'd be using the most. Overall prior to shooting with it, I was very pleased with the purchase. Once I got it out to the range I started zeroing for 100 yards but the reticle cracked within the first 10 shots! I will say it tracks very well and I actually managed to shoot a three shot 1 hole group at 100 yards with it but due to the reticle cracking I will be sending it back and trying either a Burris or Leupold. On the whole I think it's a decent scope for the money (tracked extremely well even after breaking) but It just wasn't made for the kind of recoil a 308 pistol delivers. It might do fine for a lighter caliber, not sure. However, I would be leery of putting this on the rifle caliber handguns that the scope's name would suggest it was made for...
