Legacy Reviewer's Review of Nikon M-223 2.5-10x40mm Laser IRT Rifle Scope w/ BDC 600 Reticle

Mine came with a defective switch that Optics planet immediately returned for me - which is why I continue to buy from these guys. No hassle no questions. Scope does not have the same eye relief as my 3-12x42 or my 2-8 M223's. Also be aware that while the blackened area of the scope used to give you a readout does not cover your field of view it is a little large than anticipated. I guess my assumption was that you would not see the black until you depress the switch turning on the laser. The upper area about 1/5 of the glass is always black regardless of the range finder being on. Nikon makes a good scope I have 4 of them and this one was no different - the glass, clarity, brightness in the M223 price range is very hard to beat. The BDC reticule is nice, but if you intend to shot out past 300 yards I would have wished they offered this in the 3-12 or 4-16. The range finder goes to 600 yards, but the magnification in my opinion 2.5-10 is good in the 100-250 yard range. Granted my eyes may be getting a little older so I would have really appreciated the 12x power. The laser works better than other units I have bought, but does not work as good as some of my range finders. This may have been operator error or the faulty switch so I will not expound on the minor issues I noticed. The reason for the 3 on my expectations is because I maybe oversold myself - I wanted it to be as good or better than my 3-12x42 M223 while it was close it was not the same given they were in the same family.
Pros: Great Glass, good weight, built in mount
Cons: No remote switch, top 1/5 of field of view is black, little bulky, eye relief is not as good as my other M223 scopes
