I bought this scope for a long range rifle 7mm STW, the scope is great on the rifle range, it tracks well. Hunting in the field, not so much. It is very light sensitive ( sunshade on sunshade off) The magnification is nothing like my 16 year old Nikon 4-16x 44 Buckmaster scope. Targets beyond 500 yards are difficult to aquire especially near dark, Mid day forget it without a sunshade.
Cons:
- Light sensitive, Magnification isn't what I believe it should be

.You be the judge. bought a nikon monark 3-12. nice scope.. had it in bathroom cleaning it and the gun was heavy and it fell over.. some how the cap popped off when it landed and it hit very hard on the adjustment.. my fault, my bad.. I sent it in, they had it a while, and sent it back, somthing was just not right with it, id turn the adjusment and it would just not get to impact point easily like it used to.. . I got it on my desk, worthless to me.. my fault. They just sent it back with no info, no charge etc Im not happy, but when i hit a pole and scratch my car im not happy either... What is thier warranty?.. How good is it? Iv never had to send in a leopuld again or other high end scope, but try to keep my guns in hard case, that really saves alot of grief.. But you have to clean them so i screwed up... I feel they impy a warranty for mishaps, maybe they do and someone wanted to take a nap that day at the factory.. They had a chance to sell more scopes to me but ive moved on.. You be the judge.. I can buy a cheaper scope that has a good reputation and if something goes wrong buy another one and be out the same price.. I buy vortex now and havent had any problems.. dave

First let me start by saying how great it is to deal with DOVR and Optics Planet. If your not familiar with DVOR I suggest you check the site out DVOR is affiliated with Optics planet and has many great discounted items.
Not only will Optics Planet match other online retailers prices they have on more than one occasion for me beat the competitors prices by a decent margin. I am very happy with Optics Planet's reliability and professionalism.
The Monarch III has been an excellent addition to my Savage A17 17HMR. Optics are clear and it was easy to Zero.
Started at 25 yards to get on paper (Rifle and Scope were both new) I was spot on after 4 shots. Moved out to 50 yards and was spot on bulls eye after 3 shots the same at 100 yards. I was experimenting with ammo at the same time. After about 25 rounds total down range accuracy started to deteriorate and I was concerned. A quick check found the front action screw was way loose, oop's! I tighted that back up and accuracy has been spot on ever since.
I have not tried it beyond 100 yards but with the Hornandy V-Max 17 Grain ammo I was getting great groups. The glass was clear with a bright sight picture and only minor clarity deterioration at the highest magnification. The side focus worked well and the zero adjustable turrets are excellent. I'm using Nikon Rings and they stayed tight. The only complaint would be the front lens cap is not worthy at all. It popped open just picking up the rifle. The eyepiece cap works well eno...

I have one on a 7MM REM MAG and the light transmission is very poor. On high power at dusk the scope goes completely black. I do not recommend this scope if you will ever be hunting around dusk. It is also very hard to find a moving target in the scope even on 4x. Scope is very sensitive to the sun as well. It will glare horribly if pointed in the general direction of the setting sun.
Pros:
- BDC with Nikon SpotOn software
Cons:
- Poor Light Transmission in Low Light
- terrible glare
Best Used for:
- Medium range daylight shooting

Well made scope for the $. Clarity is high, ease of use is high. Scope is mounted on a Mossberg Patriot Bolt Action Rifle. This scope was purchased to replace the existing 3x9 factory scope that was issued with the rifle. My advise to those individuals trying to decide on the BDC or Nikoplex ; BUY NIKOPLEX, & learn to use the dials of the scope to adjust for yardage or windage. There are TOO MANY variable of rifles/cartridges for the BDC to be accurate with the rifle it is mounted on. LEARN MOA !

Out of the box it was the qulaity that I would expect from Nikon. Even came with front and rear flip-up scope caps which was a surprise. The mounting on the P-223 was uneventful as expected. The eye relief was great for these old eyes. I mounted it on an FN DMR AR-15 and expect it to shoot like the nail driver it is designed to be. Can't wait to shoot it and sight it in. There is a problem when sighting in the scope since a true laser bore sight is required. I figured I would start at 25 yeards and put it on the paper and refine from there.
I woul definitely recommend this product.

The light transmission/color accuracy are nothing short of amazing. The low light sensitivity is something to behold. When using the Nikon Spot-On app, the BDC works like a charm. I've used Nikon SLR's and lenses for the last 20 years. The quality of my Monarch scope,in my humble opinion, is as good,if not better than my Nikon camera optics.
Best Used for:
- longer range accuracy
- low light/night

After testing this scope at the range it was found to be spot on and clear optics. Nice BDC and seems to be on target at each distance for the 308 that it was mounted on. Love the Nikon looks and quality.

I bought this scope because I've had great luck with Nikon scopes over the year's. ZERO complaints. The Monarch 3 peaked my interests when I read up on the Custom XR turret. I will definitely be going that direction in the near future. Scope holds zero great, handles low light situations great. Couldn't ask for a better product.

I mounted this on an AR 308 that I put together. It looks great and feels well balanced on the rifle. The glass is very clear and sharp at full magnification. After mounting and setting up the scope I took it to the range and hit the paper at 50 yards with the first shot. This not my first Nikon and will not be my last.
Cons:
- cross hare in the 2nd focal plane
