Disappointing - Nikon MONARCH 3000 STABILIZED Laser Rangefinder, 6x21mm

As other reviews mentioned, stablization works and works well. You can feel a vibration from within the unit when the stablization kicks in and all the image tremors are instantly gone. However, for a rangefinder, the unit does not deliver. On a cloudy day in the mountains in west virginia, I tested the rangefinder against torso sized steel plates. At 300 yard, no issues, ranging was quick. At 500 yard, also no issues. At 800 yard and beyond, ranging became impossible, no readings ever came back. The unit is useless for my application, YMMV.
