Bright and clear optics, solid clicks in the turrets, tough enough to hold up to big caliber recoil are all the basics of a great scope, and the Nikon delivers. Then, add features like tall turrets included in the box 1/8 MOA click stops, sunshade included, 4" eye relief, side focus, and fine crosshair that doesn't hide the target... and you have the 4.5 x 18 Nikoplex combination. I have the Leupold match to this scope, and it came with none of the neat features, has less eye relief, is no brighter or clearer, and does not have side focus - and cost more. I now own two of the Prostaff 5's and will likely own another.
