Prostaff 5 4.5-18 Nikoplex hottest buy in shooting
Bright and clear optics, solid clicks in the turrets, tough enough to hold up to big caliber recoil are all the basics of a great scope, and the Nikon delivers. Then, add features like tall turrets included in the box 1/8 MOA click stops, sunshade included, 4" eye relief, side focus, and fine crossh...

FFP Model: Disappointingly poor quality
I purchased two of the SF FFP model BDC distance lock scopes, one from Optics Planet and one from another online retailer. Both had what appeared to be excessive epoxy resin on the optics joints internal to the scope housing. It was so bad that the glare off this material was distracting when look...

Nikon prostaff 5 4.5-18
Good scope, excellent clarity. I've run probably 50 rounds through my ruffle and not had any issues. It was a good deal and I'm happy with my purchase thus far. Nice clarity and light transmission in low light.

nice glass
After I get more time and rounds with this scope it's candidate for 5 stars.
Since this is my first scope over 4x it's been a real pleasure to not have to carry a spotting scope to the range to see where my hit are going.
I mostly use the 6x-10x to shoot and roll in the 18x to check targets.
Quality of glass is great, and the price was much less than I expected to pay to equip my new Savage 110 6.5 Creedmoor. This scope will not
disappoint anyone wanting to do well in the 200-600 yard range.

Pros:
- 1/8 MOA adjustments if you have a very accurate rifle
- 1/8 moa adjustment
Cons:
- a little heavy for hunting
Best Used for:
- Bench rest shooting

Garbage buy
I bought this about a year ago and it's worked (barely) for 1 month of that.
The first one I received had an issue with holding zero. I sent it back and received the exact same scope with the same exact problem 3 weeks later. Discovered in addition to the fact the scope wont hold a zero and the reticle walks, it was also affected by the position of the shooters head in the sense the reticle would "walk" across the width of the optic and not hold the target in the crosshairs. Another no go.
Sent it in again for repair 4 weeks ago and should have the replacement today. I'm going to check it, then sell it. Not worth my time dealing with junk. Last Nikon I ever buy.

Awesome scope at a great price
I took the opportunity to look through one of these before I bought it from Optics Planet at an unbeatable price. First off I chose the mil-dot reticle model and given that the turrets are listed as 1/8th MOA I was a little disappointed to read that after I ordered it. After getting the scope that went away as the manual states that at 12x the clicks are in 0.1 mils and it's clearly marked on the power ring. I was surprised when I got it to find that in the box there was a sun shade, taller target turrets and caps and a bikini style lens caps. I hadn't read anywhere that those were included with the scope. (SF Side Focus models only according to the manual) The clarity is great as is the light transmission and trueness of color. For the money I'm extremely happy with this scope. The weight isn't much more than most 3-9's and the magnification is excellent. My only small complaint would be the eye relief isn't a "constant 4 inch" like it's claimed to be. There is some slight movement between 4.5x and 18x but it's not a big enough issue to overlook this scope either. I have mine on my Ruger AR556 and use it mostly from a bench at the range though I have absolute confidence in its accuracy and it holding zero for hunting if I want to take it out. The turrets are super easy to reset and swap for the taller or shorter ones. I have mine mounted in a Primary Arms Deluxe Scope Mount which is at the perfect height. Overall I'm very happy with this scope and will certainly be trying o...

Cross hair
Great scope for the price but the cross hair is huge! It will block out most of the target at 100 yards. Picture is nice and bright and the focus is faster than my other Nikon scopes. With a finer cross on the reticle this would be an awesome scope.
Pros:
- fast focus
Cons:
- reticle

PROSTAFF 5 4.5-18X40
Could not be more pleased with the scope, crystal clear at all magnification levels. the included sun shade is a real bonus. put this on my 25-45 AR-15 and instantly cut my group size in half! now, having rated the product justly, let me touch on my only complaint. at the time of purchase the product qualified for free shipping which I was thrilled with and OP even awarded me an additional $25.00 off coupon via E-mail. you think "how can one complain"? 10 days..... I waited. I felt as though I was being punished for taking advantage of the perks OP offered. just wanted to get that off my chest. all in all OP is hard to beat for great products and great prices. just have to exercise a bit of patience.
Best Used for:
- hunting & target shooting

Bob from Long Island
I bought this scope for an f class Remington. The scope is extremely clear and after initial break in , it seems to hold zero. i am new to prone shooting with a scope and the eye relief with this scope is a bit forgiving for a novice like me.

Cons:
- None found yet

Nikon Prostaff 5
I own several Nikon scopes, however this Pro-Staff 5 had a problem with switching to the "high" turrets. The included longer screws would not start in the scope base. They appear to be a very fine thread. NIKON customer service could not provide replacement screws and advised me to return scope to Optics Planet for replacement. Over 2 weeks, still waiting!

Outstanding Optics
The clarity of this scope is outstanding. I haven't tested it past 500 yards, but up to 500 it is very bright and clear. The Spot On app works great. I zeroed at 200 yards and was hitting targets at 300 and 500 yards using the BDC reticle. I did even better using the ballistics table in the Spot On app and adjusting the turrets.
