This is a great scope for a .22 rimfire rifle. The resolution is excellent and it has very good eye relief, even at the maximum magnification of 9X.
The Ballistic Drop Compensation (BDC) reticle is superb. You go to Nikon's website and plug in the exact .22 cartridge that you are using and it gives you the range for each of the four ranging circles located below the centerline cross-hairs on the scope reticle. I sighted in the scope at 50 yards and the four distant ranges were calculated by Nikon's "Spot On" ballistics calculator for this scope. When I fired at a target placed at the most distant range of 144 yards for the CCI Mini-Mag ammunition I was using, the first shot hit the target at dead center.
The scope is slightly large and heavy for a light .22 rifle, however, the brightness of the optics and the ballistics compensation makes this Nikon a great selection. The windage and elevation clicks are only 1/2 inch at 100 yards instead of 1/4 inch but the scope shot right to the point of aim at 102 yards so this was not an issue. The parallax is fixed at 50 yards which is a good average range for a .22 LR scope.
Nikon provides a very generous total lifetime warranty with this scope.
I use a 35 mm Nikon DSLR camera for most of my amateur photography work with excellent results and for that reason I decided to go with a Nikon brand rifle scope instead of some of the more expensive scope brands such as Leupold or Vortex. I am extremely pleased with this scope selection and the results I have achieved.
