I purchased the Nikon Rifleman 1000 after losing my Leica CRF 1600 Laser Rangefinder to a THEIF !
I found myself a little short on funds at the time, and at the same time, needed a replacement RangeFinder for a Preditor Hunt for the following day. Not having the $900 + for another Leica 1600, I opted for the Nikon Rifleman 1000 at 1/3
the cost.
Well let's just say, after my 7 day Preditor Hunting trip, I have never been so glad of ever being SHORT ON FUNDS, what a surprise it was to discover that for the $340 I spent, I had a new
LRF that was so close to the same Quality as my
previous Leica. When I discovered the Nikon would range Fur @ 650 + yards, I was TRULEY
BLOWN AWAY!!
I did expect it to reflective range at that yardage,
BUT to range Fur at that distance, that's amazing.
Others have mentioned the Brightness of the low light feature as being somewhat of a hinderance,
I, on the other hand, found it to be exallent !
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase of the Nikon, and see NO REASON for another
Leica 1600.
Pros: Clarity / Size / Weight / Features, as well as the PRICE.
Cons: The Mode functions do take a little familurizing with, but not difficult to master.
