Superb EDC flashlight

by Neight, from DE, United States Written on December 7, 2016
I bought an MT10A from another vendor a few months ago (didn't know Optics Planet carried them at the time). I was running just a AA battery in it, which runs at 170 lumens and it was plenty of light. On mischief night I used it to shine out the truck window across a park and could see clearly. It's the perfect size for carrying in your pocket without being too small or too big.

Tonight I put a 3.7v 14500 lithium in it and holy cow, it's ridiculously bright. It gets warm quick in turbo and high though. In turbo just the reflection off of wood sheathing will make you see a spot for quite a while. I will probably just leave it on low or medium for EDC unless I need the high or turbo.

The controls are easy to figure out and understand. I love having the button on the rear, and the button has a good, solid feel. The different modes are easy to find too. I like that it will blink the red LED to show what the current battery voltage is.

The pocket clip is designed so it also doubles as a baseball cap clip. When you need to use both hands, just slide it on your brim. I don't know if they meant it to be this way, but it's one of the few flashlight clips on the market that I have found that can do this without having to reposition the clip.

Over all, I wouldn't go with anything else unless it was 18650 based. I probably wouldn't use an 18650 flashlight as an EDC though but at this price, it's worth buying a few of these and leaving them ready around the house.
Pros:
  • Perfect size, super bright, built really well
Cons:
  • Gets hot if used with a 14500 at max power
Best Used for:
  • EDC
  • Home Use
