Lightweight, Compact, and Superb

by Hunter, Gear Expert from OH, United States Written on June 26, 2023
The Nitehog Viper-35 is the lightest and most compact thermal clip-on I have used with a length of 46mm and a width of 63mm and weight of 254g. Despite its size and weight, its build quality is robust and durable. The Viper is built from one solid piece of magnesium alloy, and its rugged design and construction are impressive. At just under 9 ounces, it adds hardly any weight to any rifle setup, which can be critical on long hunts.
The sensor has a solid 320x240 resolution that pairs with a 1024x768 resolution display. The Viper comes with (2) 18650 Li-Ion batteries. It runs on one battery at a time, and each battery will give the user a full 5 hours of runtime. In my experience, the battery lasted at 4 hours and 40 minutes under the second lowest brightness setting.
The Viper provides crisp and clear imagery with four different display modes ranging from white hot, black hot, red hot, and isotherm. Long range detection is at an impressive 1500 yards. Paired with a good quality riflescope, the Viper is more than capable of making highly accurate shots at 300-400 yards.
Nitehog states that there should be a sub MOA impact shift when mounting from one rifle to another and that claim held true in my experience. The thread pitch on the Viper is M33.5x0.75, which is common with European thermals. Installation is simple and can be achieved in seconds.
The Viper’s settings are simple to access and manipulate. There are 3 buttons along the top of the optic. Press a...

Most Helpful Positive Review Viper Thermal
Very impressed with the image quality on this thermal. Punches above its weight class so to speak. I have used other thermals with 640 resolution that do not look as clear and crisp as the image on the Viper 35. No lag when scanning or searching. The unit is extremely light! About the size of a PVS-14 monocular but lighter. I can throw it in a cargo pocket if I am using it for observation purposes, or pair it with the Nitehog adapters and use it as a clip on. Make sure its in clip on mode though to ensure their POI claim. The unit is very accurate when in clip on mode, I saw less than a 1 inch...

Viper 35 review

by Echo2ranger, from OH, United States Written on October 2, 2023
Little package with a big bang. Monocular, rifle scope clip on......Best of boreferring! This thing even works on prism scopes! Only down side I have found so far is having too many different rifle scope objective lens sizes....thus I had to order 5 adapters at whopping 185.00 a piece....all in all worth it due to turning all my scopes into thermals now and no rezeroing!the flip to side adapter is next on my list....this honestly looks like and feels like a James Bond gadget.

The best clip-on ever made for hunting or CQB

by Dimo77, from Germany Written on June 22, 2023
The smallest and lightest thermal imaging clip-on with a 35 mm focal length and magnesium alloy body.
Exceptional image details, more than 1500 yards detection distance on a target with sizes 71x24 inches. Super precision and POI repeatability regardless of mount and dismount cycles on your weapon system.
Perfect clip-on for LPVO mounting for hunting, and CQB equipment. It can be also used as a monocular without the need for an additional magnifier.
It comes with a cordura pouch that I can comfortably carry on my combat belt and it's always with me when needed.
Small, light, precise, and deadly - this is the product I define as "I must definitely own".
I recommend!
Pros:
  • Size
  • long battery life
  • Weight
  • Precise & Accurate
  • Durabilaty
  • detailed image
  • no re-zeroing needed
  • 12 um
  • Versatility and the possibility of mounting to any day scopes
  • Used with direct mount to picatinny hand guard
Cons:
  • Due to the low weight and small overall dimensions, there are no redundant electronic boards and functionalities
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • LE and military, pocket or purse EDC, home defense long gun light
  • LE, self defense
  • LE, personal protection, war fighter
  • Cqb -400 yards

Versatile And Convenient

by Echo Delta, from IL, United States Written on June 20, 2023
I've always been accustomed to needing both an observational thermal device, along with a dedicated thermal riflescope. Not only did the Nitehog eliminate that need, but the fact that it's as small and compact as it is makes it a better option than both. It can be moved from rig to rig without needing to re-zero, buying new mounts, or any other nonsense. Simply buy the adapter or adapters you need for all of your current riflescopes, and you're good to go. At only 254 grams, it's incredible how lightweight this device is albeit being impressively well-made. The fact that it's built in Europe and has an excellent 5-year warranty gives you added peace of mind that justifies the hefty pricetag. Battery life is excellent, and the image quality is crisp and clear. Very impressed with this unit, and I'm hoping the US Market becomes more aware of Nitehog because they should be contending with all the big players with how innovative their products are.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Size
  • battery life
  • Build quality
  • image quality
  • Modularity
Cons:
  • no video or image support
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Thermal is the future!

by Henry, from CA, United States Written on June 16, 2023
Saw this at a local gun shop in SoCal and knew this was the way. I've seen others at the big box stores from ATI and the cool FLIR but this was just too cool. It has a scope mode and a view mode so you can use it as a handheld or mount it to your optic (since CA laws don't allow rail mounted thermals). It doesn't have recording function, but thats fine I already have a triggercam which is a better interface anyway so this thing is super light! Glad I ordered came in quick and not on back out. Will be taking out later this year for yote hunting and even camping trips since its so easy to use as a handheld!
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • compact
  • easy to use
Cons:
  • no recording
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • camping
  • Recreation and hunting

Lightest thermal

by Mr3londe, from CA, United States Written on June 15, 2023
The viper 35 is an incredible thermal optic. The picture display is crisp and clean and the tracking is superb. the best feature is that I notice no impact deviation for a clip on device. Highly recommend this unit.

Thermal device

by Viper35, from CA, United States Written on June 15, 2023
One of thee best devices I’ve been able to use to this day. Soo many different feature while still being so lightweight. The fact that it’s so easy to use and operate compared to other devices on the market, i can hand this to my child and have them operate as well
