Beware the disassembly instructions - Noveske KX5 Flash Suppressor, 1/2x28 Threads

The unit itself functions well, which is why I still recommend the product despite the two star rating.

The reason for the low rating is the disassembly instructions. If you get one of these with recommendations and instructions for disassembly, DO NOT FOLLOW THEM. Noveske's FAQ now states that that they don't recommend taking these apart, period. The reason is that it takes a vice, a lot of heat, and a strong piece of metal across the muzzle slots to take the cone out as it comes from the factory. Their recommendations to use a cleaning rod to spin out the cone are a joke - I turned mine into a pretzel. I also scorched the front half of the device and marred the rear half with aluminum vice jaw inserts before I finally broke the inner cone free. An online search for "KX5 disassembly" reveals many others with similar experience. Bottom line - don't take it apart.
